Stress is something we all experience at some point in our life. Having tools to manage it can not only bring more ease into our daily life, it can also have a measurable impact on our physical and mental health. In this episode, Beth and Jennifer talk with Guy Douglas about the power of sound meditation to alleviate stress, particularly after the pandemic. Sound meditation is very accessible, even if you’re not a meditator or can’t quiet your mind or don’t know or care what a chakra is. Guy, aka the Gong Guy, is a lifelong musician who began working with gongs and other sound healing instruments to support stress relief and healing in the early 2000s. He plays sound meditations at yoga studios, California beaches, churches and other locations throughout California as well as on the Today Show. He co-founded the Sound Bath Meditation app during the pandemic. In this episode, Guy explains how sound meditation is different from listening to other types of music in the way it is played and its affect on our nervous system, which helps to quiet the mind. At the end of the episode, you’ll get to experience a short sound meditation.

Today, approximately 70 percent of Americans are overweight or obese, and this extra weight may lead to disease and health problems. In this month’s wellness podcast join Don Anderson and Lee Thai from Pinnacle Health Management as they take over the mic and dive deep into this topic along with guest Dr. Eric Smith. Dr. Smith, from TLC’s hit show 1,000 lb. Sisters, is very passionate about helping patients change their lives and achieve the healthiest version of themselves. Dr. Eric Smith is an Ashland, Kentucky native and a board-certified General and Bariatric Surgeon who has been in practice since 2006.
Why is this an important topic to have a conversation around? Because according to the World health Organization, obesity is one of today’s most visible and sadly one of the most neglected public health problems. An escalating global epidemic of overweight and obesity is taking over many parts of the world. If action is not taken, millions or people will suffer from an array of serious health disorders.
Listen into this conversation with Don, Lee and Dr. Smith, as they discuss treatment options, the pros and cons of prescriptions and ways to help develop strategies that will encourage and empower you to make healthy choices that can last a lifetime.
